It feels like a lifetime has passed since the inception of our ambitious endeavor – the creation of Leachville’s very first community library. Reflecting on this transformative journey, a quote by Melody Carstairs echoes in our minds, reminding us that, “Humble new beginnings do exist, but to begin, you must be humble. Nothing ever stays the same.”

In March of 2023, Millennial Mindset Foundation embraced the challenge of revitalizing Leachville’s reading culture. We embarked on the journey by repurposing an abandoned, seemingly hopeless community container and filling it with books, birthing Leachville’s very first community library.

What started with a modest collection of 20 books from our founder’s personal shelves has turned into a substantial library housing over 1000 books. This achievement marked the realization of Millennial Mindset Foundation’s goal to provide a valuable resource for the community.

In celebrating this milestone, we are happy to share that Wattville Library, driven by its commitment to positive change, generously contributed a significant portion of the books currently on our shelves. Their donation has been instrumental in supporting school students with essential reading and study materials, especially during the crucial 2023 year-end study season. Wattville Library has made a substantial and commendable contribution to our cause.

Wattville, a thriving township south of Benoni in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan municipality, Gauteng, South Africa, was established in 1941. Over the years, it has evolved into a vibrant and bustling community, symbolizing resilience and growth.

The story doesn’t end here. In 2024, Wattville Library is taking its commitment to community development a step further. Partnering with Millennial Mindset Foundation and Nedbank, they are set to introduce Nedbank’s Business Financial Literacy Programme to the Wattville community. The program is scheduled for the 29th of January 2024, promising to empower individuals with essential financial knowledge and skills.

As we look back on our journey and forward to the promising collaboration ahead, we remain grateful for the support of partners like Wattville Library and Nedbank, collectively working towards a brighter and more literate future for our communities.
